The main objective of the training initiative is to provide personnel with basic knowledge about the preparation, planning, execution and documentation of flange assembly work with bolting of flange connections on high-pressure and hydrocarbon-carrying process systems.

Controlled tightening of flanges, the correct selection of tools, gaskets, bolts and lubricants are crucial to avoiding accidents and loss of value in pressurized systems.

Training in flange connections is in accordance with NS-EN 1591, contains the following main points:

• General health and safety precautions when working on flanged connections.

• Common causes of gasket failures in flanged connections.

• Storage, handling, preparation and placement of packages.

• Safe dismantling of flange connections.

• Preparation of the sealing surface.

• Identification of errors and deficiencies.

• Alignment of the flange surfaces with equal spacing between the surfaces.

• The importance of lubrication and where to lubricate.

• Bolt pull pattern and the importance of the pattern.

• Manual torque tightening.

• Safe use and handling of hydraulic torque tools

• Confirm that a flange connection can operate in production.
