Basic knowledge of preparation, planning, execution and documentation of work with flange assembly with bolt tightening of flange connections.
Controlled tightening of flanges, the correct selection of tools, gaskets, bolts and lubricants are crucial to avoiding accidents and loss of value in pressurized systems.
The course provides basic knowledge about preparation, planning, execution and documentation of flange assembly work with bolting of flange connections on high-pressure and hydrocarbon-carrying process systems.
Training in flange connections is in accordance with NS-EN 1591, contains the following main points:
- General health and safety precautions when working on flanged joints
- Use of bolts, lubricants
- Work procedures for storing, disassembling, assembling gaskets and seals
- Safe HSE when using hydraulic tools
- Bolt preload, bolt tightening using flanges
- Review of tools used in connection with bolt pretensioning
- Troubleshooting and correction
- Assembly of flange surfaces
- Torque tightening, both manual and hydraulic
- Safe handling of hydraulic torque tools
- Review and use of different drawing tables
- Interpretation and use of pipe specifications
Upon passing the exam, you are certified to work with flange connections.

Target group
Anyone who will be managing or doing independent work (performing professional) on flange connections in piping systems must have completed basic training in flange work that includes the types of flange connections found at the facility.
